Description

Throughout the academic year, 20-25 enthusiastic SUNY Oneonta students gather in Alumni Hall to call alumni, parents and friends of the university throughout the country.

The Phonathon is comprised of a team of students from all majors and backgrounds who reach out to over 50,000 members of the SUNY Oneonta community over the course of a year. The student philanthropy ambassadors are there to provide updates about what’s happening on campus, answer questions that alumni and parents may have about SUNY Oneonta, update contact information, and ask for support for the Fund for Oneonta.

Through this experience, our callers find out firsthand from alumni what their college experience was like, and may even get advice about career paths. They also solicit feedback from parents about their children’s experience at Oneonta. They sharpen their communication skills while teaching others about the importance of philanthropy.
